6 July 2005. Etude XXX - A musical journey.
I'll always remember this day, when NJ band stood up proudly on stage and played our hearts out. I'll always remember the hard work that percussion put in, the conflicts that our section had, and the lessons I learnt. Sorry Thomas, for being in the wrong at times. I'll always remember Joanne auntiess for her patience during this whole period of time. I'll always remember the hard work welfare put in. The first time that I really experience what's behind-the-scenes work is during this Etude.
It was good performing again. All of us looking at Mr Ho conducting, playing our songs, the songs that we have been practicing for a mere 2 months. I have really grown to love this band so much. The sense of bondedness within us is present already, I believe. It just needs time to be nurtured before it blooms. We didn't play fantastically. but I think we played well. We played as a band, that's the most important thing. And percussion ensemble was passable. It's the process that matters afterall. Although we practised so little, at least we didn't have any major screw-ups. Percussion, I love you no matter how much we argued, no matter how many weird people there are in the section. PERCUSSION - My section, my joy!
And within such a short time, Etude XXX is over. I believe this isn't the end of the musical journey for the J2s though. This band will stay in my heart forever, just like I know it will for all of you. There's still alumni band too! Sigh. I'll miss the seniors in the band though. Especially Youzhi, who has been such a great band major. And of course, Estherss who has been such a lovable welfarian, who has put her heart into her duties all for the sake of the band. And not forgetting the percussion seniors, who have taught me a lot.
Thanks goes out to all the people who took the time off to watch Etude XXX! I really hope you all enjoyed the concert, that you all could see how much feeling we put into our playing. Thanks to all the people who gave flowers and chocolates to me, for all your appreciation of the band. Special thanks to Steph, simply because she was so happy to see me. hahas. And her repeated "I'm so proud of you!" It just made my day. Thanks for all the support which I couldn't have done without. (:
A special note to chong: I believe we differ so much to the extent that we have conflicts. But with our effort, I think we can make this friendship a beautiful one. Let's work towards it, put up with each other and laugh at each other alright?
