___rv band!
I went for the SYF exchange concert for RV band at Yuhua today. Looking at my alma mater band perform brought back a lot of feelings. I was reminded of why I love band so much in the first place. All because of this band. The band where I literally grew up in, where band music started to hold a special meaning for me.
I had this surge of pride in me when I saw my juniors playing their SYF pieces. They were good. Just simply great. The percussionists have improved tremendously in just one month. The set piece that the band played was well-controlled, showcasing all of our good points. The choice piece, With Heart and Voice, was truly touching. It's been a long time since I could really let a band piece make my heart sing. I think only RV band has the power to do that. That's where I will always belong, no matter how many unhappy incidents I've been through in there. The sweet memories linger in my mind, of all the 4 years spent in RV band, learning and maturing.
There were mistakes when they played today, definitely. I felt a little worried for my percussion juniors, so I've decided I want to go back someday to help them. But still, the band managed to bring across their love for the music, their pride of belonging to the band. They played so earnestly and moved together as one. Yes, unity is the key. I might not be close to RV band in terms of socialising with people, but I feel such a strong sense of belonging because I know that I make up part of the band. That I'm contributing to the making of such beautiful music. That's what has given RV band a special place in my heart forever.
